County Mayo’s new ‘secret garden’ in the town of Ballina has just been newly refurbished with the assistance of a Leitrim/Roscommon border based company.

Arigna based Glenview Stone were involved in the construction of the stunning Victorian garden on Pearse Street in the North Mayo town. The property has just been restored as part of Mayo County Council’s ongoing development of the Jackie Clarke Collection. This collection of historical Irish material includes copies of publications, rare handbills and proclamations, unpublished manuscripts and political writings which were amassed by the late Ballina based politician and the exhibition will soon open permanently to the public.

Designed by Axel Hens of the renowned Mitchell and Associates, the garden was constructed by Sligo based Kilcross Construction in conjunction with R&R Nurseries in Foxford, making it a great testament to the quality of craftsmen and suppliers in the West of Ireland.
