According to the latest garda figures there were 98 gardai serving the Co Leitrim area in Janaury 2015.
The figures, released to Fianna Fáil spokesperson Niall Collins earlier this month, were published on news website, thejournal.ie this week.
They reveal that, of the 98 members stationed in the county, the vast majority are stationed in the two largest towns - Carrick-on-Shannon (49 gardai) and Manorhamilton (22).
Seven gardai are stationed out of Ballinamore and a similiar number are based out of Drumshanbo. Mohill has six gardai, Kinlough has five members stationed and Carrigallen has just two members serving the locality.
According to the figures there are 79 ordinary rank gardai in the Leitrim District; 17 gardai at the rank of Sergant; one Inspector and one Superintendent.
