Roscommon/South Leitrim TD Frank Feighan has announced a major tourism boost for the constituency with confirmation of €212,250 in funding for new facilities at Lough Rynn.
The funding will provide new fishing pontoons on the lake, as well as a new rowing facility. It will also be used to upgrade the existing caravan and camping site.
Deputy Feighan said the new facilities would further promote Co Leitrim, and Lough Rynn in particular, to the fast-growing angling tourism market. The funding is being allocated through Fáilte Ireland’s Tourism Capital Investment Programme.
“I’m delighted to confirm this new funding, which will help to make our county even more attractive to tourists. Co Leitrim is already popular with visiting anglers but we are only just tapping into the potential. These new facilities will help to put us more firmly on the map,” he said.
“At the same time, the upgraded camping and caravan park will build on the growing popularity of outdoor holidays, which are being heavily promoted in the region. The Government is putting a lot of effort into growing the tourism sector, in order to get the economy growing again and create jobs. The recent Jobs Initiative had a lot of measures designed to boost the sector. So it’s great to see tourism funding being allocated directly to Co Leitrim.”
