Gardai in Counties Leitrim and Roscommon are investigating the possibility of links between a spate of burglaries in Dromod, Carrick-on-Shannon and Boyle recently.

Thieves broke into three occupied houses in the Dun Ri housing estate in Carrick on February 15/16. The suspects gained access through the rear patio doors on at least two of the houses, making off with a quantity of valuables in each instance. On the same night a home in Dromod village was also targeted with damage recorded to the rear door of the property. However in this instance the thieves were unable to gain entry.

Two houses in the Abbeytown area of Boyle were also broken into a short time later. The rear patio doors on both houses were forced open and thieves made off with a computer games console from one house but left empty handed from the second property.

Gardai are now investigating the possibility that the crimes were carried out by the same gang. Anyone who may have any information on the above crimes are asked to contact either the Carrick-on-Shannon Garda Station on (071) 9620021 or Boyle on (071) 9664620.
