The media launch of “Mind Your Head - A study of Youth Mental Health” was held in Sligo on Tuesday, September 3.

The aim of the research being launched is to explore the mental health needs of young people (12-25 years) in the Sligo/ Leitrim/ West Cavan region and to gain an understanding of their knowledge and perceptions of the supports/resources currently available to support their mental health.

The study is also seeking to ascertain what other or different services and supports young people, or those working with them would like in the region. It is a major initiative involving partnership between a wide range of statutory and voluntary agencies in the region.

The launch involved the screening of a short video made by young people on mental health, input from young people themselves, input from members of the Youth Mental Health Initiative and details from researchers from St. Angela’s College, Sligo.

Information will be collected through a number of mediums.
