With six months of planning involved, the group from Leitrim and Sligo had been on standby for the last six weeks waiting on the green light, that is, ideal wind and sea conditions.

The stand up paddle was set up to promote the Donal Parsons Trust: Donal is a seven year old boy from Strandhill, Sligo. In October 2013, he was diagnosed with Stage 4 Neuroblastoma, a very rare children’s cancer.

He is currently receiving 18 months of intensive treatment at Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital. The group entered the water at Doolin Harbour and paddled down to Liscannor, a 22km journey with no entry or exit points.   Further information www.donalparsonstrust.com

Text in “DONAL” to 57802 and donate €2 to the trust.
