Ballinamore’s new Primary Care Centre will be operational by the end of the year.
Cllr Hughes put forward a question on the timeline of the construction of the facility at today’s (Tuesday’s) Health Forum meeting in Galway. Cllr Sean McGowan also put forward a question on the project on behalf of Cllr Caillian Ellis.
It emerged that the Centre will be completed and fitted out by October this year.
“The Primary Care Centre will open shortly after the equipping is complete. The opening date for the Community Nursing Unit will be by agreement with the operator for which a tender process is ongoing,” said Damien McCallian, Area Manager, Sligo/Leitrim and West Cavan in response to the queries.
Mr McCallion added that “the advertisement for a Nursing Home Operator will be published in the next few weeks and it is our intention to have an operator appointed in advance of the completion of the Unit.”
Cllr Hughes said that he was delighted with the progress on the site and he welcomed confirmation that the works would be completed by October.
Cllr Caillian Ellis said that the facility was long overdue and he looked forward to seeing the doors open in October.
