Four Leitrim restaurants have been selected amongst the very best in the country in the recently published McKenna’s Guides list of the best 100 restaurants in the country.
The Cottage Restaurant, Jamestown; The Courthouse, Kinlough; Luna Restaurant, Dromahair and The Oarsman, Carrick-on-Shannon all feature in the list which has been published in app format and is available to purchase for apple and android devices.
The standard of some of the restaurants who have not been included in the list gives an idea of the calibre of the four local restaurants that are included.
Restaurant Patrick Guilbaud, Ireland’s only two Michelin Star restaurant failed to make the top 100 with co-author John McKenna explaining, “I would be no respecter of Michelin Stars,” McKenna says. It’s not what I’m interested in, and it’s not what the people who buy our books are interested in.”
A quarter of all restaurants in the list are in Dublin while some counties such as Roscommon didn’t feature in the top 100.
Some of the other local restaurants to make the list include, Mac Nean Restaurant, Blacklion; Viewmount House, Longford and Shell’s Cafe, Strandhill).
