“Hands off Quinn” graffiti in Belfast

A fire at Lagan Construction Group in Lisburn, Belfast last week is reported to be linked to the attacks on the Quinn Group/ Aventas buildings.

A fire at the group last week destroyed a crane and two pile driving machines causing “significant financial damage.”

The incident took place hours after staff at Quinn Rooftiles, based in Derrylin, were told the business was to be sold to Lagan Cement Products. Reports stated that graffiti sprayed at the quarry read “Hands off Quinn” and “Stay out of Fermanagh.”

A spokesperson for Lagan Construction Group said the incident was a “wanton act of destruction with no purpose other than to damage company property and threaten jobs.”

“This type of behaviour is not only criminal, but it is nonsensical. Lagan Construction Group is not connected in any way to the former Sean Quinn businesses now owned by Aventas nor is it involved in the reported purchase of Quinn Rooftiles.”

Lagan Construction Group employs around 500 people with contracts across Ireland, the UK and internationally.
