In conjunction with Bord Bia, Rosderra Irish Meats Group which Jamestown is part of has announced that they have attained full membership of the Bord Bia Origin Green programme.
Bord Bia’s Strategic Information Analyst Peter Duggan this week launched the Origin Green programme at Rosderra Irish Meats Jamestown during a visit to the company’s facilities in Co. Leitrim.
During his visit Mr. Duggan (Bord Bia) presenting the Origin Green award to Tom Reilly (Production Manager, Rosderra) commented on how progressive and important the Origin Green programme is, not only to Rosderra, but the local community of Jamestown as a whole.
Accepting the Origin Green award, Tom Reilly (Production Manager) said, “I am honoured to be here today in Rosderra Jamestown to accept the Origin Green plaque from Peter Duggan and Bord Bia.
“Both management and staff here at Jamestown are committed to working towards the Origin Green sustainability programme and I would like to pay tribute to everyone who has worked hard to achieve the verified membership.
“Becoming a Verfied Member of Origin Green could only have been achieved with the help and support of ‘the people’ working within our 5 facilities throughout Ireland.
“Thank you to everyone who made the effort to join us here today and I look forward to working with Bord Bia and all the Jamestown staff in not only achieving the sustainability targets set out for us within the Origin Green Programme, but beating them!.”
Gary Nugent (Environmental Manager) accepting the award said, “Our journey to Origin Green began in early 2013, when as a company we made the decision of commitment to setting ourselves reduction targets across a range of our resource usages and becoming a verified member of the Origin Green Programme.
“The process involved was firstly to set out our sustainability charter for the group. Within that charter or plan, we focused on 4 specific areas of our business; energy usage, water usage, CO2 emissions and waste management.”
