Kayak run in Ballinamore

Using their unique surroundings, Ballinamore is hosting Leitrim’s first Kayak Run on April 20.

The triathlon which occurs during the town’s fun Easter Spraoi weekend will incorporate a 7km run, 1km kayak and a 24km cycle based around and in the Shannon Erne Waterways.

You can compete in the event as an individual or as part of a relay team, the Kayak Run is limited to 120 people and all kayaks, paddles and buoyancy aids will be provides, so you just need a bicycle, helmet and your running gear to take part. You also don’t need any experience in kayaking, it is easy to use! Number collection is from 10am-12pm at Sean O’Heslins GAA ground, the race starts at 1pm. Changing and shower facilities is also available at the GAA pitch. Refreshments will be served after the event.

The event is sponsored and sponsored by Waterways Ireland and associate sponsor is Leitrim Sports Partnership with help from Easter Spraoi, Leitrim Civil Defence, Gardai, River Mania, Lough Allen Adventure Centre, Trailblazers, Ballinamore SOH GAA club and Leitrim County Council.
