Monaghan Day

Next Friday, Feburary 25th is remembered as Monaghan Day in Mohill when farmers with their cattle travelled from the four corners of Ireland to attend this noted fair. It was a momentous occasion. Well-known buyers from across the Border and around Ireland also attended and as a rule prices were good. There was great competition as the old saying went - “Monaghan Day will pay for all.”

Each and every one in the Drumeela area extend sincere sympathy to the Kelly Family, formally from Aughawillan on the death of their brother, uncle, granduncle and cousin. It was with sadness the news was received of the death of Canon Micheál Kelly at Cavan General Hospital.

Lough Gill Players

The Lough Gill Players are busy rehearsing this years production of Blithe Spirit by Noel Coward. The cast this year includes Donna McDermott, Brian Gallagher, Michael Kilgannon, Fional O’Loughlin Khuel, Mairead McMorrow, Anna Farrelly and Mary Gordon. Under the direction of Gerard McKenna audiences can be assured of a fun filled nights entertainment.
