Local Phone Cables Cut: People’s lives were put in danger when someone cut the telephone lines that travels through Fhyora to Gulladoo, Carrigallen. Eircom were called out on Friday July 19th to repair them. Some citizens use panic buttons. Also a veterinary surgeon lives locally so it put both human and animal lives in danger.
Carrigallen Bingo Returns: Carrigallen Bingo is back this Sunday August 4th at 9pm. The old saying was when Bingo begins in Carrigallen, do does the winter.
Carrigallen Summer Festival: The annual Carrigallen Summer Festival takes place this weekend. It brings a bit of a buzz at this time as it’s the peal holiday period.
Water Shortage: Unless some rain comes soon, there will be no grass or water for cattle and at present the lakes are showing signs of the algal bloom which is poisonous for animals so the weather may be good but it brings its own problems as well. Already in some areas the water supply is being rationed or cut off at night. This time last year we had floods.
Knock Shrine Annual Pilgrimage: The annual Ardagh and Clonmacnois Pilgrimage takes place on the 1st Sunday in September. You can get your tickets at Moyne Post Office for the busy which departs Moyne Cross at 10am for Mayo.
