CHURCH PLANNING FOR THE FUTURE: The Pastoral Council, serving Killargue/Dromahair/Newtownmanor, will shortly be inviting local people to come along and meet with a diocesan facilitator to chat through, over a cup of tea, the issues relating to life in Ireland today and what role the Church plays in that. The specific group of people that the diocesan facilitator would like to meet are those who live alone and are over the age of 65. The Diocesan Pastoral Council will be undertaking similar discussions with other groups across Kilmore diocese throughout the year. The information gathered will feed into the Diocesan Assembly which will take place in October 2014. The idea is that the diocese gathers the views and experiences of everyone and that this new understanding will help to plan the future work of the parishes and diocese. Should you be interested in participating then please contact the chairman of the local Pastoral Council on mobile 0868583648 or by email to firstname.lastname@example.org
GOOD ON LEITRIM COUNTY COUNCIL: You’ll recall that last week I mentioned that Killargue Development Association had contacted the council regarding the waste concrete left at Liddy’s corner. Well fair play to the council.....they’ve been in touch to say that they have contacted the contractor concerned and asked for the debris to be removed. The council have also passed on to the correct department the request from Killargue Tennis & Basketball Club to have the court surface repaired again. There’s subsidence at the court edge which is causing the surface to break away in places.
Tennis: Remember that tennis coaching happens every Thursday The Tennis & Basketball Club is happy to organise adult coaching sessions should there be sufficient people interested. Shorts are not compulsory so it shouldn’t increase the road accidents through Killargue! Pop along to the tennis court on a Thursday between 6pm and 8pm for information or alternatively chat to Patty Reynolds in the post office. There are also a few places left for children. Coaching is provided for children from around 6 years old upwards..........the coach says that if the child can hold a racquet without it banging on the floor then they can learn to play! Child-sized racquets are available for use from the coach so lets see if Killargue can produce a tennis champion!
AND FINALLY: THAT WITHOUT YOU...there’s nothing to share, so anything that happened yesterday, is happening today or expected to happen tomorrow that may be of interest to our community, then please let me know at the number/address at the top of these notes and I’ll spread the word!
