Thank You!: A huge thank you goes to everyone who bought a line for the Focus Ireland draw over the past few weeks. This draw brings the grand total raised for Focus Ireland to over €600. Jessica O’Rourke climbed Lugnaquilla, the highest mountain in Leinster, to raise money for Focus Ireland. Between the coffee morning and this draw, there has been so much support from everyone and Focus Ireland now has more much needed funds for the great work they do with people who are homeless; are in danger of becoming homeless; or people who once were homeless. The draw took place on 28 July and the winner of the Facial, kindly sponsored by Ruth Rae of Angelina’s Beauty & Holistic Therapy, was won by Mary Hunt and the Handcrafted clock, donated by Stephen O’Brien of Killegar Crafts, was won by Lily Taylor. Congratulations to both of you and thank you once again to everyone who took part in the draw.

The Quare Land in the Corn Mill Theatre: Moth Productions present The Quare Land by John McManus, directed by and starring Seamus O’Rourke with Shane Carroll on Thursday 1 August, Friday 2 August and Saturday 3 August and Monday 5 August 2013. The last thing ninety year old bachelor farmer Hugh Pugh expects, as he takes his first bath in four years, is a visitor. But here he is Rob McNulty, a stressed out developer looking to buy one of Hugh’s fields to extend his golf course. A field that Hugh never even knew he owned. A field in Leitrim, of all places! A straightforward enough transaction then, one would imagine, but the cantankerous old Pugh has so many stories to tell, and now he has a captive audience... Doors open at 8:00pm and the Show start at 8:30pm. Booking at (049) 4339612 - between 10:00am-4:00pm or firstname.lastname@example.org

Summer Masquerade Ball: Summer Masquerade Ball will be held at Killegar on Saturday, 17 August 2013 at 7:30pm. It’s been nearly 20 years since the last formal Hooley at Killegar - the photos from that fondly-remembered event are displayed in Charley Farrelly’s famous pub in Carrigallen and many marvel at younger versions of local characters, neighbours and friends. This year’s ball, which celebrates Killegar’s 200th Anniversary, is a charity fundraiser offering a chance for youngsters to wear their Debs gowns again and for everyone else to dress up and indulge their alter-ego from behind a masquerade mask. Tickets cost €10 per head, which includes a finger-food reception with a glass of bubbly, entertainments with surprises on the night, and can be purchased in many local outlets or by contacting Lady Sue Kilbracken by email: SueKilbracken@gmail.com or by phoning 049 433409.
Gathering Stitches: Carrigallen Crafty Ladies are running a yearlong event as part of The Gathering 2013. For online information check out www.thegatheringireland.com This is a fun, creative and exciting project called Gathering Stitches and we want all of you readers to be part of it. The idea is to make a quirky patchwork quilt, but it will made with your patchwork squares using memories or stories of what Ireland, Leitrim, or Carrigallen means to you! We are not looking for perfection so anybody can do it. The only limitation is the square, finished size has to be 12” by 12” with a plain border for us to join to the main quilt. You can start today...as many already have. Squares have arrived from faraway places such as Dubai, America, Canada, Thailand and also closer to home. Pass this on to your relatives around the world and we look forward to hearing from them or alternatively they can visit Carrigallen, Co Leitrim on Tuesday 24 September 2013 for a day of creative fun, entertainment and craic.
