Dromod Development Association regrets the sad passing of Noel Sheppard, Shannon Cove, Dromod and Dublin. Noel was very generous to Dromod Development Association down through the years and they wish to send their condolences to his wife Carmel, sons Colm and Shane and all his extended family and friends. National council of the Blind: The annual church gate collection for the National council of the Blind will take place at all local churches this weekend your support would be greatly appreciated.
Bornacoola Gun club: A note to hand from Bornacoola Gun club, the gun club members are currently undertaking a vermin control programme. If you have any problems with unwanted vermin, members will assist you with any unwanted ‘guests’ including mink, magpies, foxes or grey crows. The gun club has a big role in wildlife promotion, game conservation and habitat preservation and a vermin control programme is key to these aims. Sisters of St Peter Claver: Last weekend at all Masses in Cloonturk and Bornacoola and Annaduff there was a guest speaker from the Sisters of St Peter Claver, these sisters are working in the poorest areas of the world trying to give people a bit better life and they wish to thank all who donated to their collection in order to help to them continue this work.
Dawn Run: For the third year the Juice Plus 10k Dawn run /walk takes place 6am in Carrick on Shannon on June 22nd 2013. All details on www.runireland.ie Route as of last year, starting on the Castlecarrow Road beside the Aldi store Dublin rd. Register on the morning from 5am, €10 to enter. Walkers, Joggers, runners all welcome. Licence applied for with AA Ireland. Prize for first man and lady, and lots other spot prizes. This early morning event has become very popular, so come along and experience for yourself. Proceeds from event go to Leitrim Ladies GFA. Bornacoola gaa: Bornacoola suffered our first defeat in the Shield on Sunday morning last in glorious sunshine in Aughawillan. Despite leading by four points at half time, it was the Willies who enjoyed much the better of the second half and carved out a 2-11 to 0-12 victory. Bornacoola team was Feargal Mc Gill, David Mulligan, John Mc Guinness, Brian Reilly, Sean Mc Keon, Niall O Connor, Declan Shanley, Gary McCloskey, Morgan Shanley, Ollie Vaughan, Jonathan Duffy, Aidan Reilly, Brian Conroy, Anthony Mulligan and Philip Howard. Sub used Roy Keenan. Only one game left for the Bors in this competition on Saturday evening week at 8pm when Cloone visit Dromod at 8pm.
Bornacoola Youth Club: Another busy week at the Hive. The Leitrim Youth Factor took place on Friday night last in the Cannon Donohue Hall. We had four acts taking part. These included , from our Junior club singing “I have a dream” Hollie Costello, Sarah Donnellan, Oran Healey, Connor Fanning, Chloe Donnelly, Rachel McGarry, Aine Mulligan, Ellen Woods and Lauren McGarry who won first place in the primary school category , followed by Rachel McGarry and Aine Mulligan who danced a Two hand reel and took second place and also Tanya Boyle, Ellie Jones, Hannah Shields and Eva Donlon who are part of our Senior club and won Third place in the primary school category singing “Let her go”. In the post primary category the title was taken by “8 bit” Daniel Cramp for is fantastic Dance routine. A special mention to our Junior leaders Shannon Boyle, Tanya Donnelly, Lauren Shanley and Colleen Bohan who organised this wonderful event. And also a thank you to Niamh and Roisin Donnelly who helped out on the night also. We would like to congratulate the members of our junior club who received First Holy Communion last Sunday and the members of our senior club who received Confirmation a few weeks ago. Don’t forget any members of senior and junior clubs who have not already done so can still enrol for the summer camp taking place from the 26th to the 29th of June. Also any of our teen club wishing to come on the camping trip it’s not too late to sign up.

Briefly: What a great week of sunshine there was a lot of turf cut and footed a lot of hay and silage saved, lots of sunburn and lots of liquor drank….Badminton continues every Wednesday Mohill Sports Complex at 8pm till the end of June….Best of luck to Frank and Geraldine Moran at the Weir Lodge on the opening of their restaurant recently….I hear the Shannon Key west Hotel in Rooskey is soon to reopen....Body attack continues every Thursday at Bornacoola Community Centre at 9pm...Next week is national bike week get out on your bike its great exercise ….lots of locals took part in Carrick on Shannon’s Guinness world record “Rock the Boat” well done to all involved.
