Mickey Harte for Treasure launch: One contributor recalls her carefree schooldays in Aughnasheelin. She attributes all the positive things in her life to the solid country upbringing she enjoyed there; a sense of community belonging; a closeness to nature; a positive work ethic; a strong faith and a sense of fun, while another remembers Aughnasheelin as a childhood Disneyland and regrets not paying more attention to the skills of his grandmother as she made cures for the heart and the head. On a more serious note a patriot details his part in the War of Independence and the activities of the Aughnasheelin Company Volunteers. Read these, and many other stories about Aughnasheelin, in Leitrim Treasure which will be launched in the Bush Hotel, Carrick-on-Shannon on Wednesday, Aug. 7th at 8.30 pm.Well known Tyrone football manager and public figure, Mickey Harte, will give a special talk on “The Value of Community” at the launch Meanwhile, Charlie McGettigan will discuss the book and the launch with the editor, Brendan Harvey, on his programme on Shannonside on Saturday morning, August 3rd. following a talk by Mickey Harte on “The Value of Community”.
