GLADIATOR WINS EMPeRoR’S GOLD: After battle between Dromard and Killoe, in the fabled arena of Pearse Park on Sunday September 30th last, where there were physical battles, clashes, courage, injuries, long range bombardment, daring, attacking, defending, blood, sweat and the disappointment of the long cold walk back to another time another year. It all seemed bleak and surreal. However our players were not alone, they were part of a family, a parish and a determined organisation. There is never an end, the fight goes on, year on year and dreams do come true. So what a great surprise and source of delight it was to hear, on the following Monday, that our great warrior Jamsie Martin was the worthy winner of the club’s lotto jackpot. Yes there is no end you never know what is around the bend. This story reminds me of the late John Francis Farrell, a very popular ceillidher and story teller in the area, when you would tell him you had won a medal for something, he would reply “And did you not get any money with it?”
