Walk on Arroo Mountain:
As part of the Gathering Weekend tan Arroo Mountain Walk will take place on Sunday August 4th starting at the Community Centre at 2pm. Transport will be provided to Aughavohil from the Community Centre. Registration costs €5 and you can register any day up until then at McGowan’s Supermarket or alternatively you can pick up a sponsorship card with proceeds going to Melvin Gaels GAA Club. Come along and enjoy the breathtaking views on your own doorstep.BBQ afterwards at the Community Centre. Please be advised to bring a warm hat, jacket and pull-ups, sunscreen and if it is very hot a sun hat.

The Gathering in Kinlough:
Many activities are planned for the weekend of 2nd to 5th of August for all the family. This is a weekend of festivities for all the people of the community as well as a “McGowan Clan Gathering”. On the Friday the festivities begin with the Ecumenical Service in St Aidan’s Church, followed by the Official Opening by Norah Casey and Book Launch “From Glack to Bunduff” by Thomas Feeley as well as an exhibition of photos from down the years to include the ‘Mc Gowan Clan’. Refreshments will be served. On Saturday there will be “An Olde Fair Day” in the village with entertainment and displays and much more for young and old. Everyone is invited to join in by dressing up Fifty Style or bringing along animals for show or crafts etc... There will be lots of activities including games, vintage shows, animals for the children and “sheep racing”. Anyone wanting to take a stall on 3rd August, the Fair Day, should contact Secretary Maureen Mc Gowan at 0876641694.That night there is a Variety Concert in the Community Centre with Music, Song, Dance and a Comedy Sketch all performed by Local Artists. Admission only €5. On Sunday there will be a Mountain Walk to the beautiful Arroo Mountain and Music with STONEFREE at the Community Centre at 5pm with a Barbecue. Over the weekend there will be lots of fun to suit all... Volunteers needed to help throughout the weekend. Meetings on Wednesday evenings at 8 p.m. Everyone welcome.

North West Hospice Church Gate Collection:
Sincere thanks to all who supported the Church Gate Collection on Sunday July 14th at St Aidan’s Church Kinlough in aid of North West Hospice. Total amount raised was €190.52. Thanks also to Seamus Mc Gowan for helping out.

Melvin Gaels Lotto:
The numbers drawn in the Melvin Gaels Lotto Draw held in Gilbrides, Rossinver on Sunday Night, July 15th were, 3,5,15 and 24. There was no Jackpot winner. Other winners were, €40 Siobhan Masterson, Letterkenny, Co Donegal, €20 each Sinead Crowell, Ashfield Drive, Belleek, Fr Thomas Keogan, Kinlough and Chris Nelis, Melvin Court, Kinlough. Next Draw in Mc Gloins, Kinlough on Sunday July 28th, Jackpot €1200.00

Tawley Gathering:
The Gathering is celebrating the town lands of Tawley, Ballintrillick and Glenade on Saturday 27th July in the Benwiskin Centre, Ballintrillick. The day will be officially opened by John Waters, journalist and columnist. The communities in these areas have been working in a very creative and innovative way as part of their celebration. Inspired by the discovery that William Henry Drummond, a famous poet in Canada lived in Tawley, they organized a poetry competition for schools and adults. There will be a special presentation to winners on the day. They have also done amazing research using the 1901 Census, which is a unique and valuable contribution to the social history of the area. All this work will be on display on the day. There will also be speakers on folklore, genealogy and local place names. Cemetery Sunday In Kinlough:
Cemetery Sunday takes place on 28th July this year, Old Cemetery at 3.30 p.m and St. Aidan’s Cemetery at 4.00 p.m.

SUMMER CAMP: Summer camp for national school children in The Benwiskin Centre week of 29th July – 2nd August.
