Festival Weekend in Kinlough: 
Planning is going well for the many activities are planned for the weekend of 2nd to 5th of August. This is a weekend of festivities for all the people of the community as well as a “ McGowan Clan Gathering”. 
On the Friday the festivities begin with the Ecumenical Service in St Aidan’s Church, followed by the Official Opening by Norah Casey and Book Launch “From Glack to Bunduff” by Thomas Feeley as well as an exhibition of photos from down the years to include the ‘McGowan Clan’. Refreshments will be served.On Saturday there will be “An Olde Fair Day” in the village with entertainment and displays and much more for young and old. 
Anyone wanting to take a stall on 3rd August, the Fair Day, should contact Secretary Maureen McGowan at 087 6641694. On Sunday there will be a Mountain Walk to the beautiful Arroo Mountain and Music with STONEFREE at the Community Centre at 5pm with a Barbecue. 
Over the weekend there will be lots of fun to suit all. Volunteers needed to help throughout the weekend. Also calling all Bakers for the official opening of the Gathering on Friday 2nd August Contact Marian Mc Gowan 086 - 8491655.
Meetings on Wednesday evenings at 8 p.m. Everyone welcome.

Sympathy: 
Deepest sympathy is extended to the Lee Family of Oakfield Lawn, Kinlough on the death of husband and father, Morris. May he rest in Peace.

Melvin Gaels Lotto: 
The numbers drawn in then Melvin Gaels Lotto Draw held in the Wellington Bar, Kinlough on Sunday June 30th were, 5, 10, 16 and 22. 
There was no Jackpot winner. Other winners were €40 PJ Lipsett, Parke, Kinlough, €20 each, Anne Warnock, Drummagh, Carrrick on Shannon, Barbour Regan, Kinlough and Sean Gallagher, The Cottage, Kinlough. Next Draw in Gilbride’s, Rossinver on Sunday July 14th Jackpot €1150.00

Summer camp for national school children in The Benwiskin Centre week of 29th July – 2nd August – expressions of interest being taken now 071 9176721 to hold place.

P&T: 
Weekly Parent & Toddler sessions have ceased for the summer. Resume Sept 2nd.

Pilgrimage to Medugorje: A pilgrimage to Medugorje takes place from the 4th of October to the 11th of October. The cost of this trip is from 520 euro, must book early for this price, contact Tommy on 0449371787 or 0876851691.

Rossinver Heritage and Cultural Festival: 
The First Rossinver Heritage and Cultural Festival taking place on Friday 12th, Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th July 2013 at the Sports Field, Strad-Connolly, Rossinver, County Leitrim (just past the parochial house). 
Events taking place include dancing, illustrated heritage talks, scenic walks, a heritage day with heritage arts and crafts, a community party and loads more. 
It’s going to be a great community event for people from Rossinver and neighbouring areas and from both sides of the border. Don’t forget to make a date in your diary for the weekend.

Tawley Gathering: 
The Gathering is celebrating the town lands of Tawley, Ballintrillick and Glenade on Saturday 27th July in the Benwiskin Centre, Ballintrillick. The day will be officially opened by John Waters, journalist and columnist. 
The communities in these areas have been working in a very creative and innovative way as part of their celebration. Inspired by the discovery that William Henry Drummond, a famous poet in Canada lived in Tawley, they organized a poetry competition for schools and adults. 
There will be a special presentation to winners on the day. They have also done amazing research using the 1901 Census, which is a unique and valuable contribution to the social history of the area. All this work will be on display on the day. There will also be speakers on folklore, genealogy and local place names.

Cemetery Sunday In Kinlough: 
Cemetery Sunday takes place on 28th July this year, Old Cemetery at 3.30 p.m and St. Aidan’s Cemetery at 4.00 p.m.

Rossinver-Garrison Festival Walks: 
On Saturday 13th July Rossinver Community Development Committee will launch the new phase of Fowley’s Falls river walk- the Michael Rooney Melvin Walk. Meet at the Organic Centre in Rossinver at 11.00am. On Sunday 14th July a family walk will take place around Garrison including Roogagh Falls. Meet at Rusheen Park at 1.00pm. Refreshments following each walk

Wind Turbine: 
A public meeting will take place in Kinlough Community Center on Thurs 11th July at 8.30pm to discuss a planning application to build a wind turbine at Laughta Kinlough. 
It is very inportant as many people as possible from the Kinlough Tullaghan and sorrounding areas attend. 
The meeting will start with a short presentation on wind turbines followed by a discussion on a plan of action. For more information please phone 087 6373810.
