Killargue

A NEW ARRIVAL:
Congratulations to Mary and Hughie Harte on the safe arrival of a new grandchild, their third. Their son, Declan and his wife, Evelyn, who live in Limerick, welcomed a baby daughter, Ella, on 17th June. Ella will have an instant playmate in her brother, Kyle. Mary and Hughie went down to Limerick last week-end to meet the new addition to the Harte tribe, and what a fabulous weekend it must have been for them, with even the sun shining! Congratulations once again, may she have a long and happy life.

KILLARGUE SCHOOLS REUNION POSTERS:
Look out for these across the local villages and towns in the area....they give details of what’s going on and where.

COMMUNITY AUDIT:
The Development Association is really on a roll at the moment and is undertaking a Community Audit over the next 6 weeks or so.
This is part of the Community Leadership Programme that the committee is currently undertaking and is designed to discover from local residents just what everyone would like to see happening in the Community Centre, what extra activities or services the Development Association could help to provide and what’s working/not working in our community.
Members of the association will be calling at homes across Killargue and asking you to help with the work by completing a questionnaire that’s been prepared.
The questionnaire will either be left with you for collection on another day or it can be completed on the spot. It won’t take long....and it’ll help a lot.

KILLARGUE CAR TREASURE HUNT:
Starting at the Community Centre at 6.30pm on Sunday 21st July this event is just a bit of fun for the summer! The idea is that you pitch up in your car with your family or friends or both, you’ll be given a set of clues which will take you around the locality and might even have some connection with the Schools Reunion...or not! It’s not about being first back but about completing the route....there might even be prizes.....to find out you’ll need to go along. Look out for the posters!

Drumkeerin Schools Reunion:
As part of the Gathering 2013, Drumkeerin Festival Committee are having a Schools Reunion during Festival Week, August 20th being the date for the function.
The Reunion is for those who attended National Schools and the Vocational School in the 1970s. Having only received the database for the vocational school in the last week and the fact that many people have left the area with no forwarding address, some have not received notification regarding the event. Anyone who attended schools in the parish in the 1970s and have not received notification, please accept this as your invitation.
Further information regarding the event will appear in local notes in the coming weeks. For these who wish to make contact with the committee, an email address has been set up as follows: drumkeerinfestival@hotmail.com or visit us on Facebook @ Drumkeerin Community Festival.
