Church News: Mass on Thursday at 7.30 pm and on Cemetery Sunday at 11.30 am followed by the blessing of graves in both cemeteries. U-14 Championship: Following a well-contested first round U-14 Championship game in Ballinamore on Friday July 5th St. Brigid’s and Ballinamore shared the spoils. The final score was 3-10 all. The St. Brigid’s team and marksmen were as follows: Manus Connolly. Richard Fitzpatrick, Cormac Sammon, Hughie Maguire, Daire Maxwell, Dylan Maguire (0-3), Michael O’Haire, Peter Prior (0-1), Evan O Connor (1-0), Stephen Meissner, Niall Stringer, Ciaran Cullen (0-2), Conor McGovern (1-0), Ben McGirl (1-3) and Fearghal Murray (0-1). Fenagh and St. Brigid’s were due to meet on last Friday, but the game was postponed until Tuesday last July 16th.

Active Age Snippets: “When Summer’s in the Meadows”
Recalling July 1992: The Drumreilly Annual Sports event was held in Páirc Droim Oir Bhealaigh. Rev Stanley Johnson was instituted as Rector of Kildallon-Newtowngore- Corrawallen Parish. Garadice Gaels beat St. Manachan’s in the Minor Championship. Drumreilly U-14s were beaten by Kiltubrid and Aughnasheelin and collected full points against Fenagh. The U-12s beat Drumkeerin and Melvin Gaels, and victory against Dromahaire gave them a place in the Divisional final against Drumkeerin, whom they beat by 3-14 to 0-4 on August 7th. Drumreilly beat Aughnasheelin in Ballinamore in the first round of the Senior Championship and were ousted by Cloone in the second round on August 2nd. Drumreilly Youth Band played at Newtowngore Festival, Bawnboy Festival and at “Phil the Fluter’s” Ball in Carrigallen. Wedding bells rang for Brendan Sweeney and Marie McGovern in St. Mary’s Church, Drumlea. The deaths took place of nonagenarians Mrs Anne Mitchell, Manchester and formerly Kinkeen, and Toome –born Thomas Reilly, Carrigallen, and also of former Carrigallen-Drumreilly parish priest Canon Malachy Byrne.
