But on the other hand if a group of fishermen come to fish the lakes, they need peace and comfort, not to be faced with a crowd of alcohol-fuelled hoodlums running riot around the area.

Carrigallen SocialWelfare Office Gets the Chop: 
As reported in this column in recent times, when July or August comes around, the so-called silly season swings into action. The Social Welfare office in Carrigallen has been closed for good since Monday July 8th. This service is in town for a generation or more. Now it’s gone so it is the clinic or the Credit Union next after the Bank went. This present Government has the country on its knees at the moment.

Carrigallen Bingo Returns Soon: 
It’s that time of year once again as the Bingo moves back to Carrigallen on the 1st Sunday night in August.

No Inspection of Septic Tanks Yet: 
All the fuss this time last year was about septic tanks yet not one single inspection has been done to date. The money was collected and that was that. They won’t be inspected for years to come and scores of householders will be gone to rest in the meantime. The whole lot is a joke. Where is the money coming from?
