Local Business ‘Pro Trailers & Machinery’ support the Irish National Sheepdog Trials: From August 1st to 3rd 2013, Roscommon will play host to one hundred and fifty of the best dogs and handlers in the country, in addition to nine brace dogs(‘brace’, meaning two dogs with one handler), who will compete against eachother over the space of three days, for the honour of being crowned Irish Champion and representing Ireland in competitions overseas. The fifteen single dogs and the two brace dogs receiving the highest points will go forward to represent Ireland at Warwickshire in the UK in September 2013. In addition to this, the highest-pointed 24 dogs will go forward to represent Ireland at Tain, north of Scotland, in 2014. It’s set to be a jam-packed few days, with something for the whole family - including sheep showing, vintage displays, trade stands and exhibitors from across the board. On Saturday, August 3rd, there will be a family day with several activities for children, including face painting and a bouncing castle, among other activities, all of which will be free of charge. BBC and Sky will be covering the event, in addition to local papers and radio stations. Local Business Man Michael Kilmartin, owner of Pro Trailers & Machinery, the local Husqvarna agency, is sponsoring the event and will have a range of Husqvarna equipment on display at the show, with a host of special offers for visitors of the show. The National Sheepdog Trials hosted their annual launch on Wednesday the 10th of July at 8.30pm in the Springs Hotel in Monksland, Athlone, which drew an extremely large crowd, made up of members of the local and national press, as well as interested members of the public. Michael Kilmartin, of Pro Trailers & Machinery attended the event and spoke about their excitement about the upcoming trials. Asked about his expectations for the event, Michael said “We’re really looking forward to the Sheepdog Trials now! There’s been a great buzz around the locality because of the launch so we’re hoping to keep that sense of excitement and community spirit right up until the end of the trials! Personally I’m looking forward to meeting with new and existing customers and show-casing some of the really great machines Husqvarna has to offer this season! It should be a great few days for everyone, lets hope the weather keeps up!” Perhaps one of the most unusual, yet oddly ‘fitting’ spectacles due to be at the National Sheepdog Trials in Roscommon would have to be the Husqvarna Automower - This innovative robotic lawnmower is based on the concept that we have actually had the ideal lawnmower for years - Sheep - Husqvarna just tried to make it a little more practical. The Automower imitates sheep by cutting just a little, all the time, in a random pattern, allowing the owner to sit back, relax and do nothing, and still achieve the perfect lawn, as the automower returns the tiny clippings to the grass, fertilising and nourishing it, giving you a greener lawn, without ever having to do a thing! This quirky robotic mower will be on display at Michael’s Pro Trailers & Machinery stand at the Sheepdog Trials from August 1st to 3rd.
