Fundraising Social: A fundraising social will take place on Saturday 22nd June in the Best Western Sligo Southern Hotel in aid of the Irish Pilgrimage Trust (Friendship Week) and the Fr. PJ Hughes Mission Fund in Ecuador. Fr. PJ will be home on holidays from Ecuador and speak at the social about his mission work. Camogaiocht Na Ngleannta Clothing Drive: The North Leitrim Girls Camogie Club are having a clothing recycling drive to raise funds for this new club and especially to fund their participation as they qualified for Feile 2013 in Limerick. Drop off times: Thurs 20/6 5-7pm football pitch, Dromahair. Fri 21/6 10am–4 church Carpark, Manorhamilton. They would appreciate donations of all your clean unwanted clothes, bedlinen, towels and textile including shoes, bags, belts and soft toys but no duvets or pillows. Mobile phones and books are also accepted. Please separate books and mobiles from clothes etc. but no school books (text or copy), magazines or diaries and no household bric-a-brac. The Gathering Weekend in Kinlough: The Kinlough Fair Day is part of ‘The Gathering Weekend’ which takes place on the weekend of 2nd to 5th August 2013. The Fair Day takes place on the Saturday. For Fair Day the festival organisers are seeking: • Craftspeople for demonstrations • Exhibitors • Anyone with craft/heritage ideas of interest to the general public. Our Fair Day promises to be a fun-filled family event. With craft demonstrations & exhibits, vintage cars & machinery, rare animal breeds, musicians, street entertainment, pub entertainment, top quality food markets and local trade stalls, this is a unique opportunity to be involved and benefit from. We are now taking bookings for Fair Day. On the Friday the festivities begin with the Ecumenical Service in St Aidan’s Church, followed by the Official Opening by Norah Casey and Book Launch by Thomas Feeley as well as an exhibition of photos from down the years to include the ‘Mc Gowan Clan’. On Sunday there will be a Mountain Walk and Music with STONEFREE at the Community Centre at 5pm. Over the weekend there will be lots of fun to suit all. More help is needed to assist with the activities. A meeting will take place in the Community Centre on Wednesday June 26th at 8pm.
Rossinver Heritage and Cultural Festival: The First Rossinver Heritage and Cultural Festival taking place on Friday 12th, Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th July 2013 at the Sports Field, Strad-Connolly, Rossinver, County Leitrim (just past the parochial house). Events taking place include dancing, illustrated heritage talks, scenic walks, a heritage day with heritage arts and crafts, a community party and loads more. It’s going to be a great community event for people from Rossinver and neighbouring areas and from both sides of the border. Don’t forget to make a date in your diary for the weekend. LAUNDRY SERVICE: Not all the days have good drying! So if you need a help out with laundry, pop up to us in The Benwiskin Centre and we can do a wash & dry for you.
THE GATHERING: A special event is being held in Ballintrillick on Saturday July 27th - Townlands & People. Glenade Ballintrillick Tawley Gathering July 2013. It sounds like its going to be an amazing day! The Gathering Group have lots of things planned and some special guests too. Now as such a large event is being planned, Ballintrillick Environmental Group have decided not to hold their annual Summer Social and Family Funday and instead row in behind this group and help them however we can!
