Ballinamore

Fancy Dress - still at it!:
It’s 400 years since the first Fancy Dress Parade took place in Ballinamore when the first planters arrived bearing gifts of upheaval and eviction - ok  it wasn’t fancy or a parade but they were dressed well.
We remember/try to forget 400 years later those tragic times by dressing up as somebody else and marching up and down the town until the best ‘somebody else’ winner is decided by the judges who shall remain anonymous to all including themselves.
A new departure for the event this year sees the very special Fancy Dress  Bus, Rig, Whatyamacallit making an appearance on the streets for the first time, next year it will have a proper name but for now let’s call it ‘the tractor and trailer’.
The tractor and trailer will lead the fancy dress Parade up the town at 9.30 pm on Friday 16th August, all latecomers welcome up until 9.34pm. Don’t forget to register, registration includes many benefits including entry into the competition and to the fancy dress ball later on as well as a money-off voucher for a drink of your choice, choice of 2 drinks!
Prizes for fancy dress apply and must be claimed otherwise legal action will be taken.
Note: The Fancy Dress Parade starts at the bottom of the town, to find out where that is, follow the rain, it all ends up at the bottom of the town in the canal, step out of the canal and your at the start of the parade, see you there!
