Aughavas Gathering:
The Aughavas Gathering weekend will take place this weekend, from Friday 9 August to Sunday 11 August 2013. 
There are a number of events which include, parish records on display in the school, drama and music in the Community Centre, art and craft exhibition and workshops, football and family fun day in the GAA park. Exhibitions of photographs and memorabilia on the bygone era of country shops and dance halls in the parish will be on display. All who have grave location forms for the Old Graveyard, please return them to the FÁS Office in the Parochial House, Aughavas, for information on this contact 086 2072550. The Gathering Committee are asking for your help providing & serving refreshments in the school, on Sunday 11 August after the blessing of the graves ceremony, where parish records will be on display. We would be very grateful if you could make, bake or donate something (the School will be open on Saturday evening from 7-8pm for donations). Any queries contact Pauline on 086 294 1828.

Diocesan Pilgrimage to Knock: 
The Diocesan Pilgrimage to Knock will take place on Sunday 1 September 2013. Ceremonies begin at 2. 30 p.m. with the Anointing of the Sick, and Mass will be celebrated at 3pm.

Glen Prince - Newtowngore Reunion: 
Did you work in Newtowngore Textile factory during the 70’s 80’s 90’s and the 00’s. If so please come along to Gorby’s Newtowngore on Friday 23 August to catch up with old friends for a night of Music, Dance and Craic. All of this and more for €10. Light refreshments will be served. After expenses, all remaining monies will be donated to North West Hospice. Youth 2000 Summer Festival:
Youth 2000 Summer Festival will take place in the Cistercian College,Roscrea, Co. Tipperary, Thursday 15th- Sunday 18th August 2013 for 16 - 35 year olds. The festival includes inspiring talks, music, prayer, concert, workshops, dramas, share groups, reconciliation and healing service and Mass. Glimpses of Garadice: 
Glimpses of Garadice through the ages by local man Des Quinn and native of the townland is a story about the area, who lived there and some significant events from earliest times to the 1911 census. It takes place on Tuesday August 13th at 8 pm in Ballinamore Library. Everybody is welcome and it is FREE.

Thank You:
The May Walk Run or Roll took place on Sunday May 26 last in Aughnasheelin and raised €7013.37 for the North West Hospice and the Irish Cancer Society. On Thursday evening last Fergus Harman accepted a cheque of €3506 on behalf of the North West Hospice and Ena Barrett accepted a cheque of €3,506 on behalf of the Irish Cancer Society. Thank you to all who took part in the 5k May Walk Run or Roll and those who donated so generously both in person and online. 
A big thank you to the people of Aughnasheelin who have now made this an annual community event and to all others who got involved on the day. Thanks to those who prepared the route, the stewards, voluntary medical personnel, those who registered participants in the Community Centre, brought cakes etc and served refreshments and to Michael McGovern from Supervalu Ballinamore who provided water for participants.
