Parents of Children with Special Needs Association: Local representative Maura Williamson Parents of Children with Special Needs Association are holding a Demonstration in Carrick-on-Shannon on Wednesday 26 June 2013 at 6:00pm in the Market Yard and a walk to the County Council offices near by. This demonstration is highlighting the lost of 25% of resource hours and SNA hours for children in their education settings. Maura’s daughter Lauren is a student of Carrigallen Vocational School and has lost half her SNA hours going into second year in August. Thank You: Margaret on New Orleans Birthplace committee wish to thank all who attended the Gathering Heritage Bicentennial Celebrations 1813-2013 which was held at Margaret’s cottage, Tully South, Carrigallen, Co Leitrim on Saturday 15 June 2013 and also to all who supported the event in the Corn Mill Theatre on the evening. A special word of thanks goes to all the performers who showcased their talents on the evening. Thanks to all the helpers on the day in the field and in the Corn Mill Theatre, as without them the day would not have ran so smoothly. A big thank you goes to all who donated so generously. ‘Guess how much money’ was in the jar was won by Padraig O’Reilly. ‘Guess the weight of the animals’ was won by Mae McManus.

Summer Reading Project: Summer Reading Project commenced in Carrigallen Library on Monday last 24 June 2013 and will finish in September 2013. So far there has been a very positive response by children and and their parents. It is free and it’s fun and is suitable for all Primary school children. All over the summer children can read books free from the library and see the tree grow – for every book a child reads a leaf goes up on the tree. By the end of the summer there should be a big leafy tree and lots of readers. The children who read six or more books will be awarded a medal and certificate in September and Big Book Prize for the child who has read the most books. Carrigallen G.F.C. Lotto Results: The draw was held on Saturday 22 June 2013 and the numbers drawn on the night were 9, 10, 21, and 31. There was no Jackpot winner and the four winners of €50 each were Michael Nicholls, Eugene Reilly, Robert Maguire and Andrew Bruen. Next week’s draw will be held on 29 June in Kilbrackan Arms Hotel and the Jackpot will be €7,100 and those in charge on the night will Tommy Brady, Brendan Kiernan and Michael Reilly.
Carrigallen 10k Road Race: Carrigallen 10K Road will take place on Saturday 6 July 2013 starting at 1:00pm at Carrigallen GAA Park and all proceeds raised on the day will be donated to Muscular Dystrophy Ireland. For more information contact Katherine at 089 4529351.
