Chris O'Dowd's TV series 'Moone Boy' is expected to start filming in Boyle next month.

Boyle Actor Chris O’Dowd scooped an ‘Aussie Oscar’ for his role in ‘The Sapphires’ last week.

Musical Comedy, The Sapphires was the main winner of the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts Awards also known as the ‘Aussie Oscars’ which was hosted by Russell Crowe in Sydney.

Talented O’Dowd and co-star Deborah Mailman took home the best acting awards for the movie which tells the story of four Aboriginal women who are catapulted on to the World Music Stage as Australia’s answer to the Supremes.

Chris was not in Australia to pick up the award but exclaimed his joy about through Twitter. Chris O’Dowd said he intends to keep his Irish accent in any upcoming film roles.
