Bell tower antics get man arrested

A man who climbed the bell tower at St Mary’s Church, Carrick-on-Shannon last weekend, while inebriated has been charged with a public order offence.

The man climbed the bell tower on Sunday afternoon and gardai had to climb the tower to bring him back down safely. He was subsequently charged with a public order offence and will appear at an upcoming sitting of Carrick-on-Shannon District Court.
