Boyle Garda Station closed to public after 6pm

Boyle Garda Station has lost it’s 24/7 status and will now only open to the public during daylight hours - 10am - 6pm.

Minister for Justice Alan Shatter confirmed that following the amalgamation of the Boyle Garda district with Castlerea, the station will only be open to the public during daylight hours. No date has been set for the proposed amalgamation which was revealed in the Dail last week but it is scheduled to happen “in the coming months this year.”

There are currently 32 gardai assigned to Castlerea and 26 assigned to Boyle.

Minister Shatter said that policing would still be provided on a 24/7 basis it is just the station that will operate from 10am - 6pm. Castlerea Garda Station will remain as direct headquarters and will open tot he public on a 24 hour basis. Boyle Garda Station will support Castlerea.
