Bus Action Group to ‘step up protests’
Following on from Bus Eireann’s refusal to U-turn on the service through Dromod and Rooskey, the local Bus Action Group have stated they will “step up protests.”
Larry O’Connor from Dromod/ Rooskey Bus Action Group said “With Rory Leahy from Bus Eireann making the comment that no U-turn would happen on the bus situation for Rooskey and Dromod, we are saying in reply that we are now going to step up our protests.”
O’Connor said they are calling for drivers support in their new campaign, “We are calling for all motorists any where along the route to support this cause and if you are in front of a Route 23 Bus Eireann bus to keep their speed at around 75kph or around 45 mph, especially where no safe opportunity exists for the bus to overtake. This will take away any time saving they think they are making by stranding over 1200 customers.”
And the group are organising to make sporadic protests.
Mr O’Connor also warned the Minister for Transport Leo Varadkar and to Bus Eireann saying, “you never know where and when we will decide to carry out our next protest but be assured of this, it will be when it is least convenient for you and when media and cameras are in plentiful supply.”
