Calves registered
Over 890,000 calves were registered electronically using the Department’s online service or an approved farm management package in 2012.
This is a record level of electronic calf registrations and represents 41% of the calves registered last year.
Farmers who register calves electronically can avail of the facility to use the Animal Identification and Movement (AIM) database as an electronic herd register.
They can avail of the electronic herd register by registering with the Department at www.agfood.ie and use the Animal Identification and Movement (AIM) system to register calves and to move animals privately from farm to farm.
AIM replaced an older version of the cattle database known as CMMS.
Farmers can download the necessary application forms to engage the services of an agent from the Department’s website at www.agriculture.gov.ie under Animal Identification and Movement. Alternatively, a copy of the form to authorise an agent can be obtained at the local Department offices.
