Funding has been confirmed for more than 29 events in Co Leitrim planned as part of The Year of the Gathering 2013.

Local Fine Gael representatives have welcomed the recent announcement by Minister of State for Tourism and Sport, Michael Ring, confirming that numerous activities, including the flagship Carrick 400 celebration, are set to receiving financial support.

Deputy Frank Feighan and Senator Michael Comiskey said they were delighted by the positive response by people in Co Leitrim to The Gathering and were pleased to see local events getting much needed funding support.

They said that these events had huge tourism potential for the county and they encouraged people to get involved in activities and events planned in their local area over the next 12 months.
