Fine Gael Deputy for Roscommon/South Leitrim, Frank Feighan, has told the Leitrim Observer that he will be running for office in the new constituency of Roscommon/Galway in the next national election.

Speaking to our reporter this week, Deputy Feighan said that he believed that his good record would stand to him in his next election bid.

“I believe that the people of Roscommon and Galway will see the work that I have done, especially in regard to issues on Roscommon Hospital,” he said, adding that he was the only Government TD remaining in the current electorate.

“I believe that there will be a seat for me in Roscommon/Galway and I believe that I will win it.”

He said that he was very conscious that he remained a TD representing the people of Roscommon and South Leitrim.

“I am very conscious of that and I wish to assure the people of Leitrim that I will continue to represent them as I have done so in the past until the next election,” he said.

“I think that we have achieved a lot in Co Leitrim in particular with the announcement of the new hospital and school for example.

“I will be continuing to work for the people of Co Leitrim on issues such as MBNA, Lough Rynn and on all concerns raised by the people who contact me.”
