Fermanagh Calling from Rossinver

Rossinver Community Development Company is proud to announce that it has won the contract to deliver a free telephone link service to clients in West Fermanagh.

The new service, aptly named Fermanagh Calling, is aimed at people aged 60 and over who enjoy friendly conversation, would like greater social contact and to catch up on local news. The service will be offered to individuals living in the electoral wards of Derrylin, Florencecourt and Kinawley, Boho, Cleenish and Letterbreen, Belcoo and Garrison, Derrygonnelly and Belleek village. Funding for the new service has been secured by the cross border health services partnership, Co-operation and Working Together, from the European Unions INTERREG IVA programme.

Rossinver Community Development Company has been running a similar service in North Leitrim for three years, delivered by a team of trained and vetted staff and volunteers. It has proved to be a positive experience for both volunteers and the people who receive the calls, increasing well being and sense of security. The service can remind clients of medical appointments, provide up to date quality information in relation to available services and just check that everything is okay. It also provides great reassurance to relatives and carers that may worry about an older person living alone or in an isolated location.

The Rossinver Centre would love to hear from you if you are interested in a) being called by us or you have a relative, friend or neighbour who could benefit from a call b) would like to volunteer to work on the phone line or c) would just like more information.

Please feel welcome to a call on 004479 18132884 (Emma N.I. Mobile) or 0719854928 (Sarah ROI landline) or e-mail rise@rcdc.ie.

All details will be treated in the strictest confidence.
