Job cuts at Masonite
A spokesperson for Masonite Ireland has confirmed that eight jobs have been cut as part of an "adjustment to its production schedule".
In a short statement to the Leitrim Observer, the spokesperson said "the company is to make an adjustment to its production schedule to take account of reduced product demand in Europe & UK, which will involve the employment of eight fewer workers, pending a rebound in construction market activity.
The spokesperson went on to state "Masonite Ireland currently employs 240 people at its Drumsna, Co Leitrim, facility and contributes in excess of €50m annually to the regional economy. The Irish operation began production in July 1997 and its products are exported to thirty-three countries".
