“Justice delayed is justice denied” say Quinn supporters

With constant negative national media reports, the members of the Concerned Irish Citizens wish to state that “Enough is Enough.”
The Concerned Irish Citizens strongly objects to the continuous national media frenzy attack on members of their community.
The group stated, “Sean Quinn and his family have been continuously targeted in an unfair and unjust manner by the national media while a major court case by Patricia Quinn and her children against Anglo Irish Bank, the most corrupt banking institution in the history of this state and beyond, is pending. For 38 years, our rural communities in this region flourished through the dedication and hard work of Sean Quinn and his family and we will continue to commit to Sean, Patricia and their family, our support during these very difficult times.
“We, the citizens of this Island have a right to know the true facts in relation to the illegal share support operation and the unjustified accountancy behaviour that occurred within Anglo Irish Bank. The Concerned Irish Citizens strongly urge the national media to highlight the true facts of what exactly went on behind the closed doors of Anglo Irish Bank before they continue to crucify this family. The Committee are also demanding that all legal actions are suspended until the legitimacy of the 2.3 billion debt is ruled on, in a court of law.”
The statement signed by Ballinamore’s Patricia Gilheaney on behalf of the Concerned Irish Citizens concluded their message with “Justice delayed, is Justice denied.’
The members of CIC, and supporters of Sean Quinn and his family have been continuously criticised by the national media following the huge protest march for the Quinn family on July 29 in Ballyconnell. It is expected that the Concerned Irish Citizens are currently organising further demonstrations and actions of support for the Quinn family, which will be announced shortly.

The former Anglo Irish Bank is understood to be in the process of applying to have Peter Darragh Quinn extradited from Northern Ireland to face his jail sentence for contempt of court in the Republic.
The Sunday Independent newspaper reported at the weekend that IBRC will seek to have Peter Darragh Quinn charged with perjury and arrested at his home in Fermanagh.
If Peter Darragh Quinn is charged with perjury, a criminal offence, Gardai in the south can ask the PSNI to arrest and extradite him.
The attempt to return Peter Darragh Quinn to the Republic would involve the IBRC making a perjury complaint to the gardai on foot of evidence that he gave on sworn affidavit and directly to the High Court. The gardai, in consultation with the DPP, would then decide if a charge of perjury was appropriate. If they decided that it was, then extradition proceedings would follow.
The Chief Executive of the former Anglo Irish Bank Mike Ansley last week accused Sean Quinn and his brother Peter Quinn of being ‘economical’ with the truth in recent press interviews.
Public opinion supports the court action against the Quinns according to a poll undertaken for the Sunday Independent. The report says that the poll of 500 people nationwide - including 71 in Cavan/Monaghan - found that only 15% believed Sean Quinn Sr when he said that he, his son and nephew had not tried to put assets beyond the control of the IBRC after a High Court order that they should not do so.
