Leckaun NS has been shortlisted for this year’s Eircom Junior Spider Award for their school website.

The awards recognise and reward primary and post primary students for the innovative way they use the internet. The awards are broken into three categories- the Mega Spiders are open to primary students while at post primary level the Giga Spiders are open to 1st to 3rd year students and the Tera Spiders are open to 4th to 6th year students.

Leckaun NS, a two teacher school situated in the Newtownmanor district will compete against five other schools from Mayo, Dublin, Donegal and Limerick for the award for Best School Website. The website up for the award is www.leckaunns.ie and it includes text, graphics and videos as well as social media interactions. There are videos of pupils interviewing pupils as well as images of the projects complete and sports played at the school. The site is regularly updated keeping parents and pupils in the know how about what is going on.

The winners will be revealed next Tuesday, March 5 at the awards ceremony in the RDS. For further information visit www.juniorspiders.ie.
