Ramona Nicholas, Joint Managing Director of the Cara Pharmacy chain who have branches both in Drumshambo and Ballinamore is to set our television screens alight when she appears on an episode of the emotionally charged TV series ‘Secret Millionaire’ which will be screened on September 10.

Ramona will be the first woman ever to participate in this emotionally charged programme.

The documentary focuses on people who have been successful in their own lives but who are also prepared to turn their back on this and go undercover in some of the most disadvantaged parts of the country. Their search for genuine local Irish charities, brings them face-to-face with some of our most pressing social problems including suicide, poverty, drugs, disability and more.

It is both moving and compelling and shows us the incredible difference people can make in their own communities and how successful people can make a positive change.

This writer was involved in this documentary from the outset but was bound by confidentiality agreements which meant that nothing could be said which would compromise the integrity of the show.

Such was the secrecy that Ramona was not even aware of her challenge until she was dropped off at the bus stop in Bundoran with nothing but a map and Jobseeker’s Allowance minus rent and energy charges which left her €91 to survive on for the week.

The thrifty Donegal based buisness woman completed her challenging week with 36 cents to spare. Until the show is screened, the details remain confidential but expect to see the Bundoran woman on the Late, Late Show and in various national Sunday media next weekend talking about how life changing her experience was.
