Murdered Garda Detective to be buried today

DETECTIVE Garda Adrian Donohoe, who was shot dead during an armed robbery at a Credit Union in Co Louth last Friday night, is to be laid to rest today, Wednesday January 30.

Gardaí are continuing to investigate the death of Det Garda Donohoe who was a native of Kilnaleck, Co Cavan. The detective was shot as he and a fellow garda, Detective Garda Joe Ryan, were on duty as cash escorts at the Lordship Credit Union, at around 9.30pm last Friday, January 25. They were to escort a member of staff bringing cash from the Credit Union at Bellurgan in Jenkinstown into Dundalk.

The 41-year-old father of two approached four men in a car at the scene and was shot in the head by one of them. A burned-out car was found in South Armagh on Sunday last, and the discovery is being investigated by gardaí and the PSNI.
