Love Leitrim and the Lough Allen Conservation Association have sent a report on fracking and a video to Minister of State Fergus O’Dowd.

Research carried out by Eddie Mitchell of Love Leitrim implies that Richard Moorman, CEO of Tamboran Resources which is exploring the option of fracking in Leitrim and Fermanagh has “over-inflated production/income predictions.”

The latest official, USGS estimates are included in the reports sent to the Minister, the estimates show the actual best/worst/average shale gas production for all plays in the US, including the Fayetteville where the better of the mean well is EUR is 1.1, “not the extreme 3.5 mmcfe/d.”

Mr Mitchell says, “That makes his (Richard Moorman) numbers look pretty bad, so he does not use the expected value, only something quite a bit higher.”

Also included in the package to the Department of Natural Resources and Environment is a map showing the HIGH variability in shale gas plays.”

Manorhamilton’s Eddie Mitchell from the Love Leitrim - Anti-fracking group said “If this information can be validated then there is a serious problem with Tamboran’s projections.” The Love Leitrim group have informed the Government they can “organise a meeting with anyone interested to go through the Model and the implications.”

Minister of State Fergus O’Dowd has also been sent a link to a video of Owenmore River in Gubb, Glangevlin, Co Cavan. The video shows white substance, which is understood to be “pollution” entering the river and flowing downstream. The video produced by Lough Allen Conservation Association also shows the site where Evergreen Resources drilled in 2001/2002. Sean Wynne Secretary of LACA said the video shows “show that Fracking took place at Gubb, Glangelvin in Summer 2001 the company Evergreen Resources.” The video which is less than 4 minutes in length and was taken in March this year is available to view on youtube on the Lough Allen Sailing Centre’s page: http://youtu.be/8y08FyEFfIY
