Roscommon descendant tipped for top CIA job

A man whose parents come from Roscommon is set to be nominated for the top CIA job by President Obama.

According to reports from the White House it is expected that President Obama will nominate John Brennan as the director of the CIA agency.

Mr Brennan’s (57) parents come from St John’s, Lecarrow but he himself was raised in New Jersey.

He is currently Obama’s chief counter-terrorism adviser and was hugely involved in the planning of the raid that killed Osama Bin Laden.

He has had a vast career in his 25 years with the counter intelligence agency. He was station chief in Saudi Arabai when terrorists bombed the Khobar Towers in 1996 killing 19 American servicemen. He also served as President Clinton’s daily intelligence briefer.
