Salt barn needed for north Leitrim
The provision of a salt storage barn has been noted as a priority for Leitrim County Council after Cllr Frank Dolan raised the issue at the recent monthly meeting.
In a motion put forward by Cllr Dolan noted that it was nearly three years since the facility was promised for the north of county and he noted that the salt barn serving south Leitrim had already been provided.
In reply he was told that Leitrim County Council has received approval to develop a salt barn at Cornastalk Manorhamilton from the NRA and planning approval was received for the building in 2011.
“The Council requested permission from the NRA in February of this year to progress the construction of the salt barn, but the NRA was only in a position to fund the provision of a salt barn at on the N4,” observed the Director of Service, Infrastructure.
“However, the Council will continue to liaise with the NRA in regard to the provision of the facility at Cornastalk as soon as possible.”
