Sinn Fein launch brave new jobs plan

Sinn Fein TDs Michael Colreavy and Pearse Doherty along with local representatives launched the party’s detailed four year job plan in Sligo last Friday, November 2.

The plan proposes almost €13billion additional investment in job creation to create an average of 156,000 and retain up to 15,000 jobs across Ireland. The plan would be funded essentially from the private pension sector and proposes innovative as well as sustainable employment, some of which the party say will penetrate “every community in the country.” Ideas include becoming “leaders” in next generation broadband, building an additional 100 schools and 50 new Primary Care Centres. The plans also suggests abolishing upward only rents, providing a temporary rebate on fuel for transport firms and capping utility costs for a period of three years. Full details on the jobs plan and its proposed effects on Leitrim will feature in full in next week’s Leitrim Observer.
