Two bodies recovered from sea

The bodies of two men, one from the sea at Mullaghmore, Sligo and one from the Killybegs harbour were recovered over the Bank Holiday Weekend.

The body of a foreign man in his early 50s was recovered from the sea at Mullaghmore on Monday, March 18. It is understood the man was washed off rocks as he fished with friends off Mullaghmore Head.

Members of the Bundoran RNLI, the Coastguard Helicopter and the gardai attended the scene Monday morning.

The body was removed to Sligo General Hospital. A postmortem examination was expected to take place yesterday, March 19. Gardai are investigating the incident.

In Donegal, Gardai are continuing to investigate the death of a man in Killybegs on Sunday, March 17.

The body of a 40 year old man was discovered by Gardai at Blackrock pier at approximately 1pm on St Patrick’s Day.

Gardai are investigating the incident as a tragic accident.
