The Junior Cert results celebrations attracted a crowd of between 1,500 and 2,000 youths who travelled from a very wide catchment area including east Galway, Cavan, Athlone and Ballyshannon.
In total there were 24 members of An Garda Siochana on duty at the event in Carrick-on-Shannon while the Leitrim Observer understands up to seven ambulances were also deployed.
Commenting on the nights events a Garda spokesperson said, “We put in place a great operation which was a phenomenal success as it involved adjoining Garda divisions.”
