The challenge continues for the Get Fit trio

Get Fit ladies Stephanie McTiernan, Mary Faughnan and Michelle Reilly continue with their diaries on their journey of weight loss and improved fitness. The three ladies are taking part in a six month fitness challenge with free personal training and fitness classes by Siofra O’Connor and Dave Hanley.

Get Fit ladies Stephanie McTiernan, Mary Faughnan and Michelle Reilly continue with their diaries on their journey of weight loss and improved fitness. The three ladies are taking part in a six month fitness challenge with free personal training and fitness classes by Siofra O’Connor and Dave Hanley.

The ladies exercise every day, some even take on two periods of exercise such as personal training and a fitness class. The girls take part in open classes with D&S Fitness and also personal training each week.

The ladies completed a surprise trip to the sand dunes in Strand Hill in Sligo on September 8. They had to climb steep hills and one vertical hill. The ladies said, “We all found it tough but with each others help we got through it and egged each other on. The next day we did a 5k charity walk in Carrick and we also bet our time from the previous week!” Through the week they completed Get Fit Classes and personal training including lifting a 20kg punch bag between two and running up and down the studio with it. On Saturday September 15 they cycled 23.5k.

Weight loss so far: 2 stone.

Biggest challenge: The 5k walk as my legs were sore from doing the sand dunes the day before.

Proudest challenge: Getting up the last vertical slope on the sand dunes.

Favourite exercise: The cycle on Saturday to Gwen’s.

This week’s exercise tip: Try to control breathing while exercising.

Next goal: To lose between 4-6lbs.

Biggest challenge: The sand dunes and the 5k walk.

Proudest Challenge: Getting up the sand dunes.

This week’s dietary tip: Have food prepared for when you’re on the go.

This week’s exercise tip: Always try and make time to exercise.

Next goal: To lose between 4-5lbs.

Biggest Challenge: Getting up the last vertical sand dunes in Strand Hill

This weeks dietary tip: make sure to only eat 2 carbs a day.

This weeks exercise tip: Make sure to stretch properly.

Next Goal: To loose 3-5 pounds
