There are just six weeks left of the Get Fit Challenge for Mary, Stephanie and Michelle and things are certainly hotting up (sweating) towards the Big Reveal on January 26!
While the rest of us try to cut back a bit over the next two weeks in preparation of the massive eat-a-thon that is Christmas, the three Get Fit ladies have to keep their healthy eating and exercise in check over the holiday season.
Mary Faughnan has so far lost 3 stone 4.5 pounds, but she will not be letting up over Xmas “I plan to do a 5km walk or run everyday over Christmas and I will do my workout plan that Siofra and Dave did up for us to do at home.” She plans to stick to her healthy eating as best as she can. Mary says “As we all know we can lose the run of ourselves at Christmas but if you keep up your exercise as much as you can it is half the battle.” Mary wants to do a mini- marathon next year.
Stephanie McTiernan has lost 2 stone and 10 pounds so far and although the personal training will cease over Christmas, she plans to do the workout plan at home and “also if the roads are not to bad I hope to go walking and cycling.” Despite parties, visitors and the season of food, Stephanie says she will stick to the healthy eating plan “as best I can because I know how easy it is to put the weight on and how hard it is to get of.” She advises “If you know your going to eat something bad always try and do a little extra while exercising to burn it off!”
Michelle said after the challenge “I plan on continuing on all the exercise and also I will be sticking to my new healthy eating lifestyle.” Before the challenge is over “I would like to loose another stone, and I aim to lose 2 and a half stone more when the challenge is over.” Over Christmas, Michelle is panning on walking everyday and skipping for ten minutes every morning. Michelle has lost 6 stone and 8.5 pounds so far.
The ladies expect to keep up their fitness classes and one personal training session a week after the challenge is over to make it to their target weight.
Joining the Get Fit Trio last week was Susie Shanley who won a week of free training with the challengers. Susie said the week of training was “Way tougher than I expected! But I loved it!”
“I learned more about what the body requires in order to function best. My metabolism was so slow so I’ve learned how to boost it. I wasn’t taking in enough water.” She also learned how to make interesting healthy meals- “it’s not all salads!” She also realised “I can push to higher limits and get the rewards I want.” Susie loved the spinning class. “It was something new for me and I’ll definitely be signing up for it.” She said the three girls were very supportive, Susie hopes to use the lessons she learned from her free week with Siofra, Dave and the Get Fit Trio to motivate others and maintain a healthy lifestyle.
The Get Fit Challengers invites everyone to join them for a 5k walk on Saturday, December 22 at 11am from Park Lane, Carrick.
