Gibbons Electric Bike Hire in Leitrim Village has enjoyed a busy few months since it was opened in July and it is easy to understand why. The Kalkhoss electric bikes, for which Gibbons’ are the sole agents for Leitrim/Longford/Roscommon /Sligo and Cavan are available for sale or hire and with an array of trails mapped out that can be enjoyed either with a guide or with the use of a map there is something for everyone offering an opportunity to enjoy the fresh air and see the stunning sights of Leitrim.

There are five trails that Seamus and Eileen Gibbons have compiled and they range from 15km to 63km in length. The trails offer the opportunity to discover the likes of Sliabh an Iarainn, Corry Mountain, Arigna and Lough Key Forest Park. Everything you require is provided such as safety helmet, high vis vest, rain cape, waterproof pannier bag, complementary trail map.

Using their various skills and local knowledge, Seamus who has 30 years experience in business and Eileen who worked for a similar length of time in environmental protection have put together a package that offers users a fun and healthy day out and although the electric bikes are not available to rent to anyone under 16, there are plenty of alternatives to ensure the whole family can participate on one of the excursions. Some of the options to ensure younger members of the family can participate include child seat hire, child cart hire and co-pilot bike trailer.

Each of the routes have been planned in such a way as to ensure you will avoid the main, busy roads while having the opportunity to soak up the unspoilt natural beauty that surrounds the locality.

As well as having the option to book a tour guide, to make your outing even more enjoyable there are options to stop en route and partake in fishing close to Sheemore; enjoy a guided bog walk nature trail or if you opt for the most demanding of the trails - Sliabh an Iarainn - it can be arranged to have a picnic waiting for you close to a waterfall in an area known only to locals.

If the idea of electric bikes sounds appealing it is worth noting that the bikes are available for sale at Electric Bike Trails who are fully registered with the bike to work schemes. On current petrol prices if your daily commute is 10 miles a day, by switching to an electric bike you could save in the region of €1,000 a year.

Electric Bike hire are open all year round but pre-booking is essential for guided tours and it is recommended to book in advance.
